He found the Chesapeake bay and you now probably know where the name for the Hudson Bay came from.He was originally sent to find a northwest passage to China by some merchants.He tried to sail across the North Pole, but failed. The second attempt was also not successful.He also made friends with a variety of different types of Indians that helped him.






                           Samuel de Champlain 
Samuel de Champlain was a famous North American explorer that is most famous for the well known Lake Champlain. He found Lakes Ontario and Huron, both of which are Great Lakes. This is a image of his route:

        This is about Francisco Vasquez de Coronado
               (I know, that sounds complicated!)
This is about the explorer that found Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas and Arizona but didn't
know that he found them. This is his route to show that he found these but didn't know he found
them:
 the line shows where he traveled.
Corando was the governer of a town in Mexico and that's why the line starts from Mexico. He was trying to find a lost gold city in what is now north Mexico and the states that the line goes through.

Marquette and Joliet

Jacques Marquette was the father of Louis Joliet. They went on a journey and the went through Canada and Northern America. They were some of the last 1500's explorers of America.

René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle

He was a French explorer that tryed to colonize the Carolina's. you know, north and south Carolina. well he failed but at least he didn't give up! He was sent by King Louis XIV or King Louis the fifteenth. If you want more information, please click.
